2 months old! (Almost 9 weeks)

It is crazy how time can move so incredibly fast but at the same time some of the days and nights around here drag on (crying seems to make time stand still and make 5 minutes seem like an eternity.)

My girls are 2 months old as of Jan. 27th and tomorrow marks 3 weeks exactly until I have to return back to work. I am sad to leave them but I know I will be a better mom in the long run to have my career to focus on  M-F and then my evenings and weekends to focus all my attention on my little ladies.

Stats
 Sloan
Weight: 9 pounds 14 ounces 14th %
Height: 21.25 inches 6th%

Riley
Weight: 10 pounds 6 ounces 24th %
Height: 21.27 inches 6th%

Sloan: You are my alert girl! You look around all the time and love looking out the window behind the couch, you cry and whine until we open the blinds so you can look out. You are starting to smile more and almost always give yourself a little grin when we put you in the swing and you look up into the mirror and see your reflection. You remain not the best eater and we suspect you may have a little reflux since chow time for you it lots of crying and stopping to burp or just take a break before you can finish again.( The doctor confirmed your eating habits/antics sound like reflux and tonight we will start the medicine.) You take twice as long as your sister to finish a bottle but you seem to do better when I feed you from the breast. You are a slightly better night sleeper than your sister, you rarely are the one to wake us up on the monitor. If you are the one crying we know it is because you need a diaper change or you must be starving. You have slept from 9pm to 3:45am-4am a few times and would probably do it more but if Riley wakes up we always wake you up. Sorry doll but mama can't be feeding babies all night.

Riley: My sweet chubby cheeked baby who started out 5.7lbs and now weighs in at 10 pounds 6 ounces! You love to eat...we laugh at how excited you get when the burp rag goes under your chin and you know the bottle is coming. For the most part during the day you are very chill and nap easily but you love to crank it up at night. Bedtime especially! You have had some major crying fits the last few weeks.....lasting anywhere from 30mins to almost 2 hours. You don't need changed, you aren't hungry, you don't have to burp,.....we are at a loss for how to make you happy other than to hold you. You would probably love for mama to break down and let you come sleep on her chest in the big bed but that is NOT going to happen. We are just going to have to come to a truce that your crib is where you sleep and I'll hold you all you want before bedtime. Okay? Deal.

Eating: You still eat 7 times a day and we try to stick to a pretty tight schedule. I always wake you both up by 7am to start the day and tandem breastfeed. You eat again at 9:30am, 12:30pm, 3:30pm, 6pm, and 9pm then we let you wake us up and decide when you want your middle of the night feeding. Sloan you get 4 ounce bottles all day and a 6 ounce bottle at night that you usually only finish about 5-5.5 of. Riley you get 5 ounce bottles all day and at night a 6-7 ounce bottle that you can pretty much always finish. :)

Diapers diaper diapers and more diapers. When my parents came for a visit again over MLK weekend we did the math and the girls go thru anywhere from 30-35 diapers per day. Each diaper breaks down to $.27 a piece. Yes that amount is hard to swallow down but we knew what we were in for and I know it will not be like this forever.....just for about 3 years. :) Matt and I will feel rich once we get these diaper funds back.

I won't lie week 5 and 6 of twin life around here was ROUGH and some of the worst nights of my mommyhood so far. But with each week things have gotten a little better and I am starting to know you both better which helps me make you happier faster. I can tell the difference between cries now and am getting a little more relaxed in general. It also helps that we are starting to get smiles....something about a toothless grin from your own kids will erase all terrible memories of the horrible night before.

This month we did a lot of eating out and you girls behaved great and we did some errands as well and you did wonderful at those too. You still seem to love riding in the car and fall asleep quickly after we put the car in motion. We also took the BOB stroller out for a spin this past weekend and you both liked it as well. You are still way too small to run with the BOB and we have to fasten you in pretty tight but its a step in the right direction. Mom and Dad need some time outside of the confines of this house and the BOB makes neighborhood walks 100x's easier.

Now for the cuteness overload

Sloan is not happy about this bow.
 Bebo and his girls.
A few outtakes from our photoshoot. It takes a lot of energy to get them all dressed cute, clean diaper, full belly and semi good mood while awake to take these pictures. Then inevitably someone poops their pants and it gets on their outfit (Riley) and we have to start all over. I was sweating by the end of this 45 min picture taking ordeal.
