6 months!

Half a year...I can't believe it. In some ways it has flown by but in others it hasn't. I remember them being teeny tiny like it was yesterday and I was so ready for them to be more sturdy and interactive. Well I am pretty sure we are at the sturdy and interactive point! These girls have totally taken off developmental wise and personality wise the past month. I love this stage so much and love seeing them blossom into little people who have very distinct personalities.

Sloan:
You are the boss. Or so you think. You have just grown even more extroverted and vocal over this last month. You still love to be held but you like your freedom too and will just throw your body weight at whatever it is you want to go towards...you are fearless. You roll all over the place, you go crazy in the exersaucer and are starting to get the hang big time of the bouncer. You smile so much it is awesome and you like to talk/squeal/scream to convey your moods. You don't have any teeth yet but you are working on something in that mouth. You chew on everything like its your job. You love baby food...you open your mouth after every bite because you are already ready for the next one. You also like to drink water from a big glass and always try to get mom and dad to give you theirs. You stand up (with our help) all the time and you can almost sit up by yourself. You can right now for a few seconds at a time but still topple over. You are doing great with your cranial band and hopefully only have a few more weeks to go. When we take it off you during bath time you seem to rub your head in way that seems like you are asking "hey where did my hat go?" You had your first few nights without your mom and dad and Bebe and Bebo said you did great. I think you gave them a run for their money but they enjoyed being with you.

Riley: My sweet smiley Riley. You are such a laid back easy going girl most of the time. You still love to talk on Facetime and love looking at the ipad when mom or dad are. You have the sweetest smile and light up anytime your daddy talks to you. You love it when he reads books to you and you listen very intently. So far you aren't as big on the baby food as sister...you make some funny faces though. It seems you still prefer your mama's milk to any baby food but you are still keeping up in the growth department. You love to tell stories and just babble away...you haven't quite taken to screaming as much as your sister but you do like to hear your own voice sometimes and often you talk yourself to sleep at night. You are more timid about things like the pool or new toys...you just like to take your time and check things out and thats okay. You roll all over the place too and love standing up (with our help) you can't sit up quite yet without support but everyday you get stronger and stronger so I know it won't be long now. You have taken to a lovie...you love sleeping with your schnauzer puppy lovie and its so cute to watch you clutch it as you are drifting off to sleep.

Stats:
Sloan Marion
Weight: 16 pounds 8 ounces 58%
Height: 25 3/4 inches 43%
Head: 41.8 cm 37.8%

Riley Aileen
Weight: 16 pounds 7 ounces 57%

Sleep: Sleep this month has been all over the place...you are only up once a night if you are up. But sometimes you gals like to stay awake and chat after you eat. I think you are also having some teething pain which occasionally wakes you up as well. We can't complain too much because one wake up a night doesn't really bother us and we aren't quite sure we are ready to try the CIO method yet until we talk to the pediatrician at your 6 month appointment.

Right now a typical day goes like this:

7am: I wake you both up to eat, I bring you into my bed and BF you at the same time and then we head downstairs.

7:45am-8:00am- You eat a fruit like big girls.

8:30amish: 1st nap lasting anywhere from 45 mins to an hour.

10:30am: 1st bottle of the day usually consisting of 6-8 ounces

11:00am-11:30amish: playtime

11:30am-ish: You girls eat a vegetable. (We don't like pees so far.)

12-2pm Nap usually lasting 1.5-2 hours of if you are Sloan it lasts 45 mins :)

2:00pm- 2nd Bottle of the day 6-8 ounces

2:30-4:15 Playtime

4:15pm: I BF you both again but its more like a snack feed. Eventually when you get bigger this will turn into a sippy cup of milk hopefully.

5:00pm-7:00pm: you usually take a quick catnap 20-45mins, fuss, play, and now with our new "fascinators" we take a bath every night

7:00m-7:30pm: Last bottle before bed consisting of 8 ounces and then we read a few books and its lights out!

You girls are eating great these days and I can tell you are growing every week you feel a little heavier and sometimes it seems as if you grew overnight.

Likes: Johnny jump up, exersaucer, being held under your arms so you can stand up, blowing raspberries, peek a boo, chewing on anything and everything, bath time, pool time, Dad, being tickled, iphones, ipad

Dislikes: being left alone for more than a few minutes,  being bored, when you can't have something...like mom or dads food or drink, the nosefrieda

Warning picture overload but I couldn't pick because they are all my favorite. Now I wish they would look at me and smile but no they looked at their dad behind me....it's as good as its going to get for now. I love the one of them smiling at each other...melt my heart.

Memorial Day Weekend

Three day weekends are the best but man are we exhausted. Taking care of 2 6 month old babies and entertaining them for 3 days straight is down right tiring. Matt was working on the deck for a few hours each day this weekend so I just had to keep up with the girls and do my best to entertain them even though they have the attention span of a flea. I just rotate thru all our toys pretty much for 1.5 hours at a time and they eat and then its usually nap time.

Friday we kicked off the weekend with our friend Anthony's 3rd birthday party at a firestation. The girls weren't so sure about the fire station but we are trying to get them out and about more so they won't be so timid and shy. Their world is very small right now but hopefully with them starting daycare in June that will change.

Saturday we were having some friends over for dinner so I decided to brave HEB by myself with the girls and they actually did great. Now when they are both in the cart there isn't very much room left for groceries but it worked for the small run we were doing. They seemed to like looking at the lights and people watching.

We also took advantage of the warmer weather and went swimming! It only lasted about an hour because the water is still just a tad too cold for the girls but Sloan LOVED it and I think once Riley gets used to it she will really like it as well. We put on the precious swimsuits Matt's Uncle gave the girls and the swim hats to match. Darling!

Sunday we went on our first BOB stroller run. It was kind of a rainy day Sunday so we needed to get some fresh air since the rain let up for a while. The girls took a nice snooze while we were on the run. It's so cute to me to catch them in poses like this....they may not look exactly alike but they are for sure twinks.

Monday it rained and stormed pretty badly so we just hung out here until our cabin fever got the best of us and we took the girls to Rudy's for some BBQ. It was a nice relaxing family weekend.

Charleston, S.C.

This past week was a big milestone for me as a momma. I spent my first nights ever away from my girls. Since they were born I have not been away from them for more than about 6 hours maximum. Matt and I flew to Charleston, S.C. for his best friend Jeff Michno's wedding. I had never been before so it was a fun trip with lots of firsts. First time in Charleston, first time pumping in an airport, first time to sleep 8-9 hours straight for 4 nights in a row! I was a wreck leaving on Wed. morning but I knew the girls were in good hands with my parents here to watch them and their nanny Teresa came Wed-Fri so life as they knew it was pretty much the same. Matt and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary May 14th and then enjoyed lots of wedding festivities and good food. I am so glad we went and that we have great help to allow us to go on trips. Bebe and Bebo thank you so much! When should Matt and I book our next trip? :)

Our life lately in videos

Sloan and Riley are already starting to fight over toys. Sloan seems to have the upper hand so far.

Sloan and I chatting while she should be napping

Riley is very ticklish under her neck

These girls love their daddy!

Happy Mother's Day

Mother's Day has a new meaning to me now that I am a mother....1. It makes me appreciate my mother 100,000x more than I ever did. 2. It makes me feel so proud that I get to call these precious girls my own.

Matt and the girls took me to brunch and the girls kept it together for the whole meal which was a nice treat and they gifted me a spa package at Lake Austin spa and resort. I have always wanted to go there. So far we are having a nice little family day. I love this life with these 2 girls in it and I couldn't ask for a better husband or father to my babies. I saw this poem the other day and it is so true...these girls will be half a year old in 2 weeks. I want to cherish these times as much as I can.

A week in iPhone pics

Riley had her first taste of illness this week with a diagnosis of pink eye :( luckily it didn't seem to bother her too much.

When these girls decide to wake up way too early this is what happens..... So we can get maybe 20 more minutes of sleep.

Afternoon stroll/ cat nap for Riley

Riley is in love with her schnauzer lovie.... And lately I have been thinking it's time to put the bumpers back on the bed. (See legs hanging out.)

Sloan keeps me on my toes by almost sleeping face down at times.... I am constantly going in to check and make sure she is breathing.

Sounds of Sloan

Sloan has a few new trick that is especially fun for her parents. She has just started this over the last few days.... Nothing is wrong with her, she isn't hungry, dirty, or in pain that I know of.... She just likes to hear herself.
